Linux Thin-Clients are small monitors that are all connected in one central hub that is running a Linux operating system. This allows people to have their own accounts that they can log onto from any Thin-Client in the school.
A Linux Thin Client is an awesome computer that is immensely helpful when trying to complete homework or a project. These computers are easy to fix when broken, and are a fun and simple learning experience. As you can probably tell, spell check works perfectly, so even people who are horrid at spelling like myself can use a computer and not have a bunch of typing problems. These computers also have restrictions on websites that are not appropriate or useful for a middle school child.
The Linux thin clients are multiple computers that are all linked together from one central server. Everyone has their own personalized account which they can save documents to. However, someone's account is not accessible through that single computer. You can access your account from any computer throughout the school and have all of the settings on your account that you had when you last logged out. You never have to worry about not being able to find a file that you saved on another computer ever again.
Linux is an operating system like Windows. Most people use Windows because it was the first operating system and it has become the most popular one. A thin-client is a computer that is part of a network of computers. All the computers are connected, so they all share the same files. When an account is created, you can log on to it on any of the computers. Linux is very similar to Windows. Their are tool bars, a desktop, and icons. One advantage of using these computers is that, like I said, they are all connected and files, accounts, and settings are shared and can be controlled. You can make system wide changes to the computers by only using one computer. Another advantage is that it's free! By using Linux computers over Windows, you can save loads of money.
These computers are very nice. They let you have your own home pages to save all your stuff on. Then nobody can come and delete it so then you turn it in you can't say that nobody deleted it on the computer. It don't take that long to load up the Internet. The computers make sure that you're on the right thing. These computer are very good.
The thin clients are the computers in the school that we all use. They are fast and they do have a nice mix of graphics and office work, but the Thin clients could be much better. I like the fact that we can have our own independent accounts. There are tons of things you can do with them and, they are very handy to have.
